RENAULT has shared digital renders of its pint-sized electrical crossover, a tribute to the unique Renault 4, forward of its unveiling on the Paris Auto Present on October 17.
Whereas we don’t know a lot in regards to the Renault 4 simply but, what we do know is it seems to be extra like a cross-country mini journey rig than a crossover.
The renders present a mannequin paying homage to the unique Mannequin 4, which was common throughout the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and even noticed manufacturing into the 90s for some areas.
Renault says its staff of designers, headed up by Renault design vice chairman, Gilles Vidal, has given a contemporary twist to the enduring mannequin and mentioned: “the present automobile may also resonate with youthful generations celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 4L Trophy humanitarian rally”.
Nonetheless, the place it differs is in its clear crossover focus, with what seems to be like pretty aggressive wheel and tyre offset, wholesome floor clearance and a modern hatch design with roof racks and a storage pod – presumably manufacturing unit choices.
Whereas the unique Renault 4 did have respectable floor clearance, a crossover earlier than crossovers had been an choice, it was certainly not as excessive off the bottom as what the renders present the brand new mannequin to be.
The mannequin is about for manufacturing by 2025 and is rumoured to share the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi CMF-BEV platform.
The Renault 4 will sit alongside its retro-themed Renault 5 small electrical hatchback stablemate, one other ode to a bygone mannequin.
The Mondial de Paris (Paris Motor Present) begins on Monday 17 October.
