EKA Mobility, KPIT, and BPCL to launch hydrogen fuel cell bus at Cochin International Airport, ET Auto

This initiative marks the primary deployment of a hydrogen gasoline cell bus in Kerala.

EKA Mobility, KPIT Applied sciences, and Bharat Petroleum Company Restricted (BPCL) have partnered to deploy a hydrogen gasoline cell bus at Cochin Worldwide Airport (CIAL) in Kochi, Kerala.

The 9-meter, 30+ passenger hydrogen gasoline cell bus shall be deployed at CIAL as a part of a Proof of Idea (PoC) challenge with a three-year operational life. The bus was displayed on the World Hydrogen & Renewable Vitality Summit held in Kochi on March 12 and 13.

Mandatory infrastructure

BPCL has established the mandatory hydrogen infrastructure, together with technology, dishing out, and refuelling, at CIAL. The bus was showcased on the World Hydrogen & Renewable Vitality Summit in Kochi in March.

This initiative marks the primary deployment of a hydrogen gasoline cell bus in Kerala. The challenge demonstrates the dedication of those firms to sustainable transportation options. The collaboration leverages the precise experience of every associate. EKA Mobility supplies the electrical bus platform, KPIT integrates the hydrogen gasoline cell know-how, and BPCL handles the hydrogen infrastructure.

The challenge at CIAL serves as a pilot program to check and display the feasibility of hydrogen-powered public transportation. The three-year operational interval will present priceless knowledge and expertise for future deployments. This PoC not solely focuses on car deployment but additionally on constructing an entire hydrogen mobility infrastructure.
