Second driver arrested in racing crash that killed woman on Dale Mabry, police say

Tampa detectives have arrested one other man they are saying was concerned in a avenue race on Dale Mabry Freeway that left a lady useless final week.

Daniel Hernandez, 19, was arrested Monday on costs of vehicular murder, illegal racing on a freeway, reckless driving with severe bodily damage and leaving the scene of a crash with demise, the Tampa Police Division stated in a information launch.

Police say Hernandez, who was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Camaro, was racing Andy Moya Robaina, 22, on North Dale Mabry Freeway on June 3 when Robaina’s 2011 BMW 335i struck a 2015 Nissan Versa that was coming into the roadway.

Each occupants of the Nissan had been taken to the hospital. The driving force, Thomas Strickland, 74, had accidents that weren’t thought of life-threatening. The passenger, Marsha “Linda” Strickland, 63, died on the hospital. Robaina was arrested on costs of vehicular murder, reckless driving with severe bodily damage and racing on a freeway.

Police beforehand stated they had been trying to find the driving force of a “dark-colored car” that “narrowly missed the Nissan” and continued to journey south on Dale Mabry. The driving force didn’t cease or return to the scene, police stated.
