Gov’t looking at more incentives for electrification, to begin using EVs, including hybrids, for its vehicle fleet

The federal government is reportedly fine-tuning steps to extend the variety of electrical vehicles (EVs), together with hybrids, for its use as official automobiles. At current, fully-imported (CBU) EVs are exempt from import and excise duties till December 31, 2024, whereas locally-assembled (CKD) EVs are exempt from excise responsibility and gross sales tax till December 31, 2025. Moreover, the elements used to construct them are exempt from import responsibility, and all EVs are additionally exempted from street tax till the latter date.

It was talked about final month that extra EV incentives had been set to be included within the revised Price range 2023, which shall be tabled in Parliament later this week.
