Following a troublesome third quarter in 2022, the progress of autonomous autos (AVs) is more likely to be far slower than initially anticipated. To this point, roughly US$200bn has been spent on the know-how globally, and buyers are scrutinising what they think about low worth returns. On 6 December, The Wall Road Journal reported that TCI Fund Administration had written to Alphabet Inc (Google’s guardian firm), of which TCI is a notable shareholder, expressing detrimental sentiments relating to its “extreme investments” in self-driving automotive venture Waymo.
