The Director of Street Site visitors and Security Companies, Fergus Gondwe, has introduced that insurance coverage premiums for passenger automobiles have been diminished to 60 % efficient at present, 22 January 2021.
Gondwe made the remarks at a Press Briefing which Ministry of Transport officers organised following the discount of carrying capability to 60 % as a consequence of Covid-19.
Insurance coverage Affiliation of Malawi, Bywell Chiwoni, says they’ve agreed to cut back the premiums after being approached by the ministry.
Chiwoni mentioned if minibus operators select to not adjust to the 60-percent-capacity rule, insurance coverage corporations will solely be liable for 60 % and miss the remainder.
In the meantime, Chairperson of the Minibus Homeowners Affiliation of Malawi, Felix Mbonekela, has urged minibus homeowners to adjust to the measures put in place and to at all times give correct info to insurance coverage corporations.
