FRANKFURT — BMW on Wednesday mentioned it can retool its German factories to construct electrical automobiles and elements and shift manufacturing of combustion engines to crops in Austria and England as a part of a broader shift towards low-emission automobiles.

Factories throughout the globe are clamoring for funding into next-generation automobiles as electrical autos achieve traction with customers and as governments hasten the demise of the combustion engine.

Germany on Wednesday unveiled a 3-billion-euro ($3.5 billion) scheme to advertise low-emission automobiles, and Britain mentioned it can ban the sale of latest petrol and diesel automobiles and vans from 2030.

“By the top of 2022 all our German factories will make at the very least one totally electrical automotive,” Milan Nedeljkovic, BMW’s board member liable for manufacturing mentioned in a press release on Wednesday.

BMW’s Munich plant, which presently makes four-, six-, eight- and 12-cylinder combustion engines, will likely be retooled with a 400 million euro funding till 2026, to make next-generation electrical autos, the carmaker mentioned.
