The federal government on Friday stated it has made airbag necessary for passenger within the entrance seat of a car. A gazette notification relating to necessary provision of an airbag was issued, the Ministry of Street Transport and Highways (MoRTH) stated.
“Ministry has issued Gazette notification relating to necessary provision of an airbag for passenger seated on entrance seat of a car, subsequent to driver. This has been mandated as an vital security characteristic & can be primarily based on strategies of Supreme Courtroom Committee on Street Security,” it stated.
The ministry additional stated that it has been mandated that the autos manufactured on and after the primary day of April 2021, within the case of recent fashions, and thirty first day of August, 2021, within the case of present fashions, shall be fitted with airbag for the particular person occupying the entrance seat, apart from the driving force.
